All of my clients use social media to start conversations about their products, and many are blogging. Blogging is a great way to start a relationship with people who are interested in your area of expertise. The challenge with blogging is to write regularly and write often (something that I have absolutely been slacking on lately!) 🙂
This morning I decided to get back on the a regular schedule and as I sat staring at my monitor I thought: “I don’t remember it being this hard to get started” then…. I also remembered an exercise that I had learned a year or so ago that has helped me jump start my writing in the past.
It’s a tool that every elementary school teacher is aware of… but as normal humans we forget: A Timed Exercise.
You see, there’s something about having a time limit that really forces your logical brain to dig deep and let your unconscious, intuitive brain fill in the blanks. It’s like your mind says, “I give up, I can’t think of anything” and hands the baton off to your unconscious brain, (which has been standing at the ready… tired of sitting on the bench… ready to get in there and help the team)
This exercise is about 30 minutes long, and worth every minute. When you’re done, you’ll have a complete and detailed outline for your next masterpiece! (or maybe even the next two!)
